What you will do As the Infection Preventionist, you will be responsible for the development, and implementation of programs and initiatives that will reduce the chance of contracting disease.
Assist local facilities in establishing systems for the prevention, identification, investigation, and control of infections in staff, residents, and visitors.
Conduct research, look for patterns of infection; observe practices; educate healthcare teams; advise hospital leaders and other professionals; compile infection data; develop policies and procedures; and coordinate with local facilities and other public health agencies.
Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
Implement evidence-based HAIAR policies and procedures.
Partner with health care facility staff/leadership, physicians, and local and state agencies on activities related to infection prevention and control.
Provide onsite and tele-visit consultative infection prevention assessments to healthcare facilities.
(Skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and adult family homes).
Advise and support health care facilities during HAI investigations.
Assist local facilities in establishing systems for the prevention, identification, investigation, and control of infections in staff, residents, and visitors.
Assessment of local facility resources.
Disease surveillance.
Outbreak management:
case investigation and contract tracing.
Participate in regular conference calls with WA Department of Health ICAR lead to discuss successes/challenges.
Participate in community infection prevention meetings.
Develop IP tools/resources for healthcare facilities and act as a reviewer for other tools developed by DOH HAI& AR Program.
Responsible for meeting Washington Department of Health deliverables and reporting requirements.

Required Qualifications Professional training in Nursing, Epidemiology, or closely related field.
Valid Washington State driver's license or ability to obtain one within two weeks of date of hire.
Ability to obtain Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) within 12 months of hire.
Basic Computer knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Desired Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Public Health, or closely related field.
Three years of experience in Infection Control programs.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
